Holy Spirit: Teacher of All Things
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. — Acts 14:26
The Holy Spirit is, in a certain sense, the first catechist. Throughout salvation history, he has illuminated the understanding of God’s people and communicated God’s Word to them. Today, he remains the first catechist, the primary teacher of the faith, the One who leads us all to a deeper understanding of Christ and his Church. On him, hinges everything we know and do.
At the 2012 St. John Bosco Conference, we will give you the tools to understand who the Holy Spirit is and communicate that understanding to others. We will explore his role in the Holy Trinity and his mission in time, examining how he has spoken to God’s people in salvation history, and how he speaks to us today. We will also look at the place of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church, the sacraments, the process of conversion, and the practice of catechesis. In addition to the general session talks, there will be more than 30 workshops in the following areas of specialization: adult catechesis, sacramental preparation, family catechesis, youth ministry, Scripture, and liturgy.
As in years past, you can choose from a variety of tracks for certification, including: Catechist Certification, Catechumenal Ministry (RCIA), DRE Certification, Youth Ministry, and Campus and Young Adult Ministry. You can also choose to attend the three-day conference, instead of the five-day conference, if you are not seeking certification at this time.
This summer, join us and catechists from around the nation when we encounter the Holy Spirit, the Teacher of All Things.
